Festive 500

Typically the holidays are a time to hang up your bike and induldge yourself in fine food and good company. For many, it's also a time to lose all the fitness you've been building throughout the year.

This year, as in the past, Rapha is challenging riders around the world to avoid the festive flab by clocking kilometers over the holiday stretch...and we're getting in on the action.

Ride 500km between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve posting evidence of your endeavours. Use photos, videos, prose, poetry, drawings, or any other creative application you see fit. Everyone that participates and acheives the 500km will receive a patch to prove their efforts (be sure you register with Rapha here). But there's more...

We'll be hosting rides over the course of the eight days. Attend six of the eight and you're guaranteed to complete the Festive 500 and you'll get a free tune-up. Attend all eight and you'll also get a commemorative cap to help chronicle your feat. To participate you'll have to join our Strava club and pick up a stamp-card at the shop. Each day you ride, we'll stamp your card as proof that you're out pounding the pavement with us.

In addition to the great prizes you can win from Rapha, we'll be putting up some prizes of our own in the following categories:

• Best 1 Minute Video Clip
• Best Self-Portrait
• Most Overall Elevation Gain
• Most Kilometers Ridden
• Most Epic Fail

Rides will leave from the shop every day during the Festive 500 at 10:00 AM. If you haven't attended one of our group rides this year be sure you fill out one of our release forms before coming on a ride. You can bring the competed form with you and hand it to the designated ride leader. The average pace of the rides will be between 26-30km/hour.

The spirit of this challenge is to ride regardless of the weather conditions. Unfortunately, due to insurance, we are unable to officially host rides in the event of ice or snow on the road. We will post here by 9:00 AM whether or not a ride will happen. Regardless of whether or not we are able to host a ride, we encourage you to continue your efforts towards completing the Festive 500.
